Situated in eastern DeKalb County, Lithonia is a small city located in the Atlanta Metro Area. As of 2010, the community was home to about 2,000 residents. Lithonia is found in the center of the state’s granite-quarrying region, and the area has a strong history for mines and rock quarries. The area is served by DeKalb County Public Schools, with older students attending Lithonia High School, and higher educational opportunities are available at Strayer University and the Luther Rice University of Theological Studies.
Lithonia is home to several things to see and do despite the city’s small size. The Spa at Stonecrest is a great destination for visitors in need of a little rest and relaxation, while nature lovers might prefer an afternoon at Arabia Mountain. There are plenty of shopping opportunities available in the city, including the Mall at Stonecrest, and after a long day of shopping the sales visitors might like to grab a meal at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill or the Keg at Rockbridge. Golf is also popular in the community at courses like Idlewood Golf Course and the Mystery Valley Golf Club.
